Rohit Sharma lifts the T20 World Cup trophy, marking a historic win for India.

A year has passed since India ended their 17-year T20 World Cup title drought, securing the coveted trophy after a nail-biting final clash against South Africa at Kensington Oval. The thrilling contest went down to the wire, with India maintaining composure to seal the victory and end years of near misses.

The triumph was more than just a single game; it represented the culmination of a flawless campaign. India remained undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing dominance, character, and resilience.

One of the most memorable moments of the tournament was the high-stakes encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.

“It wasn’t just a game,” Rohit recalled. “Two days before the match, we were locked in — tight security, fans everywhere, you could feel something special was coming. It felt like a festival had taken over.”

In a tense, low-scoring affair, India managed to edge out Pakistan by six runs. Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional performance, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs, earned him the Player of the Match award.

Despite an early batting collapse where India lost key wickets quickly, Rishabh Pant's aggressive 42 off 31 balls revitalized the innings, propelling India to a total of 119.

“On that pitch, his 42 was like scoring 70,” Rohit noted. “We knew 140 was par, but with our bowlers, even 119 could work.”

Rohit gave credit to Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh for their flawless execution of the game plan. “Bumrah is a weapon — he takes wickets and dries up runs. Arshdeep’s been brilliant too, and they were crucial in pushing the game in our favour.”

From the electrifying atmosphere of the India-Pakistan clash to the tense final in Barbados, Rohit’s reflections pay tribute to a team that etched unforgettable memories into the nation's sporting history.
