This Test marked the commencement of the WTC 2025-27 cycle for both squads, with Shubman Gill leading India for the first time in a five-match series.

The second Test is set to begin on July 2 in Birmingham, and the remaining four matches are projected to establish new benchmarks for digital sports engagement.

The ICC World Test Championship Final 2025, which saw South Africa defeat Australia to secure their first ICC title, also achieved significant viewership figures.
