The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
According to Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, the decision has been made, but crucial details are still being worked out. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Patel confirmed that the GCA is yet to finalize a suitable window for the tournament. The number of teams participating and other specifics are also still under consideration.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have successfully provided a platform for local talent to shine and potentially earn a spot in the coveted Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
